WILFIRS GATE INSTALLATION

HOW TO INSTALL YOUR NEW WILFIRS GATE

All of our gates are assembled using pressure treated softwood timber or untreated Idigbo hardwood. It is a natural product which will expand and contract with the weather conditions.

We recommend all gates are installed with 12mm (½”) clearance to allow for any shirking and expansion during the dry heats and wet winter months.

All single gates are advised to be installed with closing strips and 2 bolts (1 top and 1 bottom) plus a latch in the centre. Pairs of gates should include closing strips, a centre slamming strip, a top bolt and 2 drop bolts that go into the ground plus a latch.

As pressure treated timber dries it is likely to twist and warp if the gates are not bolted at the top and bottom using bolts and slamming strips.

We recommend that gates are installed slightly higher on the latched side to accommodate for any dropping as the gate settles and naturally dries out.

On all gates the angled bracing may be provided loose and will need securing into the desired position.

If you notice the start of any warping or twisting contact us immediately for advise on how to rectify this.

Any gates not installed as per our recommendations will not be covered in the event of warping / twisting.

If you stain your gates the unstained tongue will show as the timber dries out and will need re-staining.

Only use Stains and Paints recommended by ourselves.
